Portrait of Wantian Huang

Welcome! I am a Ph.D. candidate in Economics at the University of Maryland, College Park. I am on the 2026–2027 job market for economist positions in industry.

I am an empirical industrial organization economist working on demand estimation, pricing, and causal inference for experiments. My job market paper, Testing the Substitution Predictions of Demand Models, uses the 2015 withdrawal of Blue Bell ice cream to test how well demand models predict how much of a removed brand’s demand rivals retain and which rivals receive it. In summer 2026, I was an economist intern at Amazon Ads, where I evaluated randomized promotions in an advertising-credit program.

Here’s my Curriculum Vitae and Resume.
